Before us is 3SI CBC Linking Visions Roundtable - redesigning the collaboration architecture
The beginning of the third decade of the 21st century brought changes of fundamental importance for the future of the world and Europe. The COVID-19 pandemic requires the verification of strategies in many areas of socio-economic life. At the same time, we are on the threshold of new financial perspective of the European Union, which will open new possibilities of co-financing certain activities, provided that they are consistent with the EU policy.
New conditions call for a new approach. The Carpathian Euroregion, the oldest cross-border cooperation structure in Central Europe operating since 1993, is starting to update its Strategy “Carpathian Horizon 2030” and proposes to rebuild the architecture of cooperation for the development of border areas not only in the Carpathian area, but more broadly in the European space. Border areas and organizations working on their behalf, gathered within the AEBR and other stakeholders, should redefine their roles and goals and principles of cooperation, in such a way as to better use the potential of the border area for development, regardless of the financial support of the European Union.
The aim of the meeting is to present the vision, objectives and basic assumptions for the process of establishing the structures of intersectoral cooperation of public, private and non-governmental entities in the Three Seas Initiative area and neighboring countries. It was defined and proposed that the cooperation at the first stage will focus on three areas: development of border areas (Objective 1), tourism (Objective 2), academic research and development cooperation (Objective 3). During the meeting, the processes of creating and implementing cooperative solutions in each of the above areas will be analyzed. The territorial and thematic division will be made and the coordinators responsible for them will be assigned. An overview of existing pan-European and regional international initiatives will be carried out. The structure of the strategic project of a horizontal nature for the Three Seas Initiative under the name “3SI CBC Information Society in the border territories” will be presented.
The key element of the meeting will be the participants discussion on the presented proposals and the adoption of the work plan till the end of 2021. During the meeting, a decision will be made on the composition of the consortium responsible for the implementation of the initiative.
The conference is scheduled to start on May 5, 2021 at 10:00 am for nearly 43 participants from 21 countries.
